Beyond My Colour - Story Exchange and Zine-making workshop
Event description
Tracing Roots: A Zine on Cultural Heritage & Self ✨ 🌈
Who is this for?
🌈LGBTQIA+ (queer) international students, alumni, and allies, including those who are still exploring.
About:
Come and explore the journey of self-discovery through the lens of cultural heritage and personal identity. Using creative prompts, storytelling, collage, and illustration, participants will trace their roots, reflecting on family histories, traditions, migrations, and the ways these experiences shape who we are today.Through the DIY art of zine-making, we will create personal narratives that celebrate our origins, honour our past, and reimagine our evolving identities. Whether through words, images, or mixed media, this space invites you to express and connect with your heritage in a meaningful and artistic way.
What we will explore together
- Where do your roots begin? (Think ancestors, homeland, traditions.)
- What cultural symbols, foods, or traditions make you feel connected?
- How has your heritage shaped your identity today?
- If you could have a conversation with an ancestor, what would you ask?
No prior experience is needed, just bring your stories, creativity, and an open heart!
