Beyond Outcomes: Tools for better treatment experiences

Overview

This webinar takes a fresh look at the standard AOD screening tools; Australian Treatment Outcomes Profile (ATOP), Severity of Dependence Scale (SDS), Quality of Life Scale (QoL) and the Kessler10 Psychological Distress Scale (K-10).

It revisits the foundations and provides suggestions of ways in which the tools can be introduced that invite collaboration, creates safety and ensures the service is the right fit and that their priorities are what informs support, treatment, safety & recovery plans.

Delivered by Michele Campbell, Clinical Director and Antonia Ravesi, Program Manager, the webinar provides the theory behind the tools, with a focus on how they inform practice we explore their application using case studies from the frontline.

Learning outcomes

Participants will hear about the purpose and application of these commonly used outcome measures and have an opportunity to consider how these tools can facilitate conversations that increase motivation, identify risks and shape and enhance a client’s engagement with their treatment.

Who should attend?

Frontline staff, from NADA member services, in particular workers who undertake intake and assessments and utilize these AOD screening tools. It will be useful for clinical staff, peer workers, Aboriginal support workers and staff in roles supervising clinical staff and case managers including external clinical supervisors.

The webinar will be pitched to staff in non-government services, however the overall information delivered and discussed would be useful to staff from government and other sectors.

This webinar will be recorded and will be made available within six weeks of the event.
