Beyond Sentience: Bachelor of Creative Industries Showcase 2025
Event description
How do we maintain agency when technology increasingly shapes our choices?
This exhibition brings together over 35 collaborative creative works from QUT's graduating BCI cohort that explore the boundaries between human and machine, nature and the artificial.
Through interactive installations, design prototypes, performance works, and speculative projects, these emerging artists, designers, writers and performers investigate the complicated relationships between bodies, technology and the natural world in 2025. Projects range from rhythm-based games controlled by heartbeat and clapping, to choose-your-own-armageddon interactive storytelling and wearable technologies that translate sound into heat.
Rather than accepting technology as neutral or inevitable, these projects use creative practice as a form of speculation—showing us the hidden aspects of digital systems, exposing power structures, and proposing new ways of sensing, communicating, and living with technology.
