Description

Digital art explained through real stories from local Gold Coast artists

Join us for an unhurried afternoon of conversation, curiosity and fresh ideas with three talented Gold Coast digital artists, held in the creative surrounds of Studio8 Currumbin.

If you have ever looked at a digital artwork and wondered how it was made, how much of it comes from the artist, the tools, or both, this is your invitation to slow down, ask questions, and look more closely.

What to expect

This relaxed panel discussion brings together three Gold Coast-based digital artists — Elda Koro, Kellie North and David Smouha - whose work shows just how varied digital art can be.

Each artist uses digital tools in their own way, from photography and images to layers and visual storytelling. With their work on display in the gallery, you’ll hear the stories behind the art, the choices that shape it, and how each piece comes together. We’ll also talk about the difference between digital art made by artists and images made with AI, and why that difference is worth understanding.

Digital art has been around for a while now, but it's still often treated as an emerging or misunderstood practice. In many ways, it's going through a similar process to what photography experienced when it first arrived on the art scene: loved, questioned, and perhaps feared a little.

This event is designed for art lovers, collectors, curious first-timers, and anyone who has wondered how digital art is made, valued, collected, or understood.

What You'll Take Away
  • A clearer understanding of digital art as an art form people can understand, enjoy and collect

  • Insight into how digital art is made, and the ideas driving each artist's work

  • A better grasp of how digital art compares to and differs from AI art

  • The confidence to trust your own taste and support the artists you love

  • A genuine connection to the Gold Coast's local art scene
