beyond the pose: energetics & deeper layers of āsana
Event description
BEYOND THE POSE
(the energetic + deeper layers of āsana for yoga teachers)
a 3-hour CE immersion on the energetics of āsana
āsana is often taught through physical alignment and muscle engagement — this Yoga Alliance registered workshop invites you to explore the rich, energetic layers that deepen the practice beyond the physical. beneath the surface, there’s an art to curating the energetic undercurrent of a class — guiding people not just into shapes, but into states. postures can be doorways into steadiness, vitality, introspection, expansion. by intentionally shaping prāṇa, we can create specific qualities and experiences for both students and ourselves to embody, savour, and carry into our days — extending this guidance beyond teaching to support the crafting and deepening of our own personal sādhana.
in this immersion, we will:
trace the roots of yoga into the now, exploring how āsana evolved as a tool for meditation and transformation
explore how each posture carries its own energetic signature, and how to weave those qualities into the arc of a class/a personal sādhana
look at pose categories and their effects, the koshas and vāyus, and the influence of moon, sun, and fire qualities
examine the role of bhāva (feeling/tone), breath, and theming in shaping a cohesive experience
close with a practical element of brainstorming class/sādhana
for teachers ready to enrich their approach — building on instructing postures to craft classes that resonate, transform, and leave a lasting imprint. also (and perhaps more importantly), this workshop offers devoted practitioners a methodical lens to create their own personalized sādhana, tailored to their energetic needs and the deeper layers of self.
as always, a booklet for you to keep will accompany the immersion. upon completion, you will receive a certificate of completion.
