Beyond the Traditional Divorce Model

How a professional Collaborative approach can create better outcomes for separating families

Separation is rarely just a legal process. It is a whole-of-life transition that can impact a person’s finances, emotional wellbeing, parenting, relationships, future security and more.

Yet the traditional approach to separation can see these issues addressed separately, often after problems have already emerged, and in a manner that can escalate confusion, conflict and costs.

What if there was a different way?

Join Collaborative Financial Accountant Natasha Milne, together with Collaborative Separation Facilitator and former family lawyer Kara Ockendon, for an informative session exploring how a professional Collaborative approach can better support separating individuals and families.

Together, Natasha and Kara will explore the why behind Collaborative Practice, the different roles of lawyers, facilitators, financial and other separation professionals, and how an interdisciplinary team can work together with both members of a separating family to reduce conflict and support better outcomes.

You’ll also be taken through how the Collaborative process works in practice, including interest-based negotiation, the pathway to resolution, and how professionals can connect with the growing professional community of Collaborative Practitioners.
