Event description

People exiting the justice system are over-represented in poverty and homelessness statistics, and as part of Anti-Poverty Week we will explore what more can be done to support people in this situation.

What would it take to provide a 'softer' landing for those re-entering society? How can we work together to minimise barriers to employment and housing so that rates of recidivism are reduced? How can we help people exiting prison find their place and become a contributing member of their community?

Join us in-person or online via Zoom for a panel discussion to hear from people with lived experience and those in the sector with expertise in this field including Vinnies' own Ortal Yifrach and CEO of OARS, Leigh Garrett. Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Correctional Services, The Hon. Joe Szakacs MP, will also be in attendance to respond to the discussion.

For the in-person event we will provide a light lunch at 12pm, and the panel discussion commences at 12.30pm.

This is an Anti-Poverty Week event hosted by Vinnies.
