General Admission Ticket holders can purchase a few remaining lantern-making workshops on the event day.
The Brisbane Lantern Festival (Laternenfest), a significant event on the Brisbane German cultural calendar, is coming to 140 Main Street Kangaroo Point (4EB Radio) on Saturday, June 10, 2023 (3:00 pm – 8:00 pm). Laternenfest 2023 will include live German music, Lantern making competitions (for both young and young at heart), Prizes, Raffles, Entertainment and more. It's a fantastic family afternoon/evening outing celebrating all things German including great food like Bratwurst, Pretzels and Gluhwein. After the sun has set, put those newly made lanterns to use with the famous lantern parade.
Laternenfest is the primary annual fundraiser for the Brisbane German Language School (BGLS), a community organisation which prides itself on promoting the culture and language of German-speaking countries (Germany, Switzerland and Austria).
Songs sheets (Lantern songs) will be available on the BGLS website (www.bgls.org.au) prior to the event - please print copies for your personal use prior to coming or simply read from your phone.
Need to know: Overwhelming demand to attend Laternenfest last year has resulted in numerous significant changes to the way that Laternenfest 2023 will be run. This includes online ticketing that limits ticket sales to a number significantly below the estimated attendance of last year to ensure that we are better positioned to cater to the tastes, sounds and creative flair of all patrons at Laternenfest 2023. Need to know: As a small community organisation run by volunteers we are investing significant resources to bring you Laternenfest 2023. We plan the event based on a certain patronage and sales in order to keep the event viable. We are therefore unable to provide refunds if ticket holders are unable to attend as a result of their own circumstances or the event is undermined due to uncontrollable adverse weather. We aim to deliver the highest quality event that is possible at the current cost of tickets while keeping the event viable. We appreciate your understanding in regard to our no refund policy.
