BGLS Laternenfest 2024

Event description

The Brisbane Lantern Festival (Laternenfest), a significant event on the Brisbane German cultural calendar, is coming to 140 Main Street Kangaroo Point (4EB Radio) on Saturday, June 8, 2024 (3:30 pm – 7:30 pm).

Laternenfest 2024 will include live German music, Lantern making competitions (for both young and young at heart), Prizes, Raffles, Entertainment and more. It's a fantastic family outing celebrating all things German including great food like Bratwurst, Pretzels and Glühwein. After the sun has set, put those newly made lanterns to use with the famous lantern parade at 6:00 pm.

Laternenfest is the primary annual fundraiser for the Brisbane German Language School (BGLS), a community organisation which prides itself on promoting the culture and language of German-speaking countries (Germany, Switzerland and Austria).

Song sheets (Lantern songs) will be available on the BGLS website (www.bgls.org.au) prior to the event - please print copies for your personal use prior to coming or simply read from your phone.

Need to know: Overwhelming demand to attend Laternenfest in previous years has resulted in some improvements to how Laternenfest is run. This includes online ticketing that limits ticket sales. Limited number of tickets available! Don't miss out, secure your tickets now!

Need to know: Parking is limited so it's best to plan your journey using public transport (City Cat and or bus is ideal). Bis dann!

Need to know: As a small community organisation run by volunteers we are investing significant resources to bring you Laternenfest 2024. We plan the event based on a certain patronage and sales in order to keep the event viable. We are therefore unable to provide refunds if ticket holders are unable to attend as a result of their own circumstances or the event is affected by adverse weather. We aim to deliver the highest quality event that is possible at the current cost of tickets while keeping the event viable. We appreciate your understanding in regard to our no refund policy.
