BGSOBA Professional Networking - Creative Industries

This professional development and networking event is for people in (or interested in) advertising, brand strategy and development, video and film production, digital marketing, and media.

Come along and make valuable connections, build your strategic network, strengthen relationships, find mentors and mentees, uncover opportunities, and learn from the expert panel about all aspects of this exciting and dynamically expanding industry.

The format of the evening will be an expert panel discussion followed by an opportunity to ask questions.

The rest of the evening is a chance to meet and network with the panellists and other attendees.

Your ticket includes drinks at the bar and substantial canapes.  You won't go hungry or thirsty!

Brendan Greaney '90

Brendan is a proven creative leader with a history of solving complex business problems. In a career spanning 30 years, he has worked at some of the country’s leading agencies on many of Australia’s most iconic brands. His work has been awarded all over the world for its creativity and effectiveness. 

Brendan’s agency experience includes Grey Worldwide, Shannon’s Way, Leap and leadership roles at Leo Burnett and Y&R Brisbane, where he was Executive Creative Director and part of the regional management team.During his time at Y&R, Brendan was responsible for leading the creative output of Queensland’s biggest and most successful agency over the last decade. 

During his tenure, Y&R Brisbane dominated the local industry, both commercially and creatively, winning BADC best in show five years running.Seeing the limitations of the network agency model, Brendan left Y&R to establish his own creative consultancy, Chimera Project, working in partnership with senior marketers to solve complex marketing challenges in a way traditional agencies can’t.

A passionate believer in fostering young talent, Brendan has spent many years both as a lecturer and tutor at AWARD School, the advertising industry’s internal course for new creatives. An advocate for local creativity, in 2012 Brendan co-founded Brisbannes, Brisbane’s own festival of creativity.

Brendan is also a regular panellist on ABC Radio, including the popular ‘Hidden Persuaders’ program, a Gruen-style panel discussion featuring industry experts and insiders, discussing the world of media, advertising and communication.

Rem Bruijn '85


Rem is founder and Creative Director of Brainheart, a virtual creative agency ranked in Queensland’s top 5 for creativity. He is one of Brisbane’s most respected advertising and communications practitioners, and has authored famous campaigns including RACQ Insurance’s (Charter boat? What Charter boat?) and Brisbane Marketing’s (Yes, It’s a Sleepy little Town), as well as contributing to many others.

Rem’s work has earned him over 250 State, National and International awards for Creative Excellence and Advertising Effectiveness, including BADC 'Best of Show' x 4. 

Rem was inducted into the Brisbane Advertising and Design Club Hall of Fame in 2012. More notably, he can balance drinks on the back of his head and dogs like him.Rem is a proud former boarder calling Harlin House home from 1981-1985.

Takeshi Takada '93

Executive Producer and Co-Founder of Alt Group

With a career that took him from his Brisbane education to his Tokyo roots and back, Takeshi Takada
worked for some of the world’s top advertising agencies before entering the world of post production
and visual effects.

Harnessing his deep knowledge of branding, business and post-production, Takeshi formed Brisbane’s
Alt.vfx alongside business partner Colin Renshaw in 2011.

Since then, Alt has become known as a world-leading visual effects and post-production company with
studios in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Los Angeles and Tokyo.

Takeshi’s team is galvanised around a single shared vision – to create remarkable work with the best
people, no matter the visual medium, and they have done exactly that for some of the world’s top
creatives and filmmakers, including Academy-award winning director Jane Campion.

From The Power of the Dog (Netflix) to Nine Perfect Strangers (Amazon) and many more besides,
Takeshi’s global outlook and connections have led to a wider partnership with Netflix Japan, where his
team just completed a stunning live action manga-adaptation, Yu Yu Hakusho – the latest worldwide hit
for Takeshi and his team of artists.

Always at the forefront of innovation, the wider Alt Group has expanded to include creative technology
arm T&DA, specialist motion design company New Holland Creative as well as full service production
studio including virtual production, SteelBridge studio.

Together, the companies represent a creative powerhouse that can work across VFX, animation, design,
emerging technologies, interactive installations and more, including award-winning feature films and
global campaigns for some of the world’s biggest brands.

Max Hinton '13

Founder of Content Lion.

Max is a business owner who has a passion for creative marketing and digital content. After completing a degree in property economics, and a year of traveling with videography and photography shooting surfing and skiing he started a content creation business in Brisbane, 'Content Lion'.

Content Lion provides clients with a modern way to promote their business and product through effective video and photo content.
