    Event description

Join us at the Victorian Pride Centre to celebrate Bisexual Visibility Day and recent achievements of the bi+ community.

    Spaces to Be research launch

Bi+ Pride Victoria (a merger of Bisexual Alliance Victoria and Melbourne Bisexual Network) is proud to present the launch of 'Spaces to Be', the first major project researching bi+ history in Victoria. This project has brought together a picture of bi+ community groups in Victoria from 1975 to the present. Oral history interviews, questionnaires and archival research help to centre bi+ voices and highlight the strong history of bi+ organising that we continue to build on today.

Researcher and author Dr. Hamish McIntosh will speak about what Spaces to Be tells us about bi+ history in Victoria, as well as the gaps that remain, including the urgent need to support more First Nations-led research on queer history.

Previous publications from 2023, namely 'Intimate Partner Violence: Bi+ Inclusive Practice Report', and 'Bi the Way: A Guide to Bisexual+ Research', will also be celebrated.

    Special guests

Special guests at this event include Victoria's Minister for Equality, Harriet Shing, and our new Victorian LGBTIQA+ Commissioner, Joe Ball.
