ICONIC WESTERN SYDNEY ARTS INSTITUTION CELEBRATES A.C.E. NAME CHANGE + 23RD BIENNALE OF SYDNEY + OPENING PARTY

With an almost 40-year legacy as one of Sydney’s leading cultural institutions, we are thrilled to officially usher in a new era of exciting new projects under the NEW A.C.E, Arts and Cultural Exchange name.

We invite you to come and celebrate this milestone with us, with incredible NEW events: rīvus at A.C.E from 4 Mar – June 13, a FREE Biennale Opening Party on 4th March at A.C.E! And more. Read on.

Open to the public 12 March – 13 June, A.C.E. will present a series of contemporary works by Dharug and International artists as a part of the 23rd Biennale of Sydney, titled rīvus. This marks our historic first time as an official partner of the Biennale of Sydney!

rīvus, investigates the role of rivers, wetlands, and other salt and freshwater ecosystems as dynamic living systems with varying degrees of political agency.

A.C.E x 23rd Biennale of Sydney Opening Party - Fri 4 March 7pm

You are invited to join us for a FREE official opening party with DJ sets, food and drinks, contemporary art, and a celebration of Dharug culture.  The people and clans of the Dharug are the traditional custodians of the land in which A.C.E. is situated in Western Sydney.

The Party starts with a Welcome and Ceremony by Dharug Cultural Practitioners Julie Bukari Jones (Webb), and Peta Strachan, and a Jannawi Dance Clan performance. See Leanne Tobin’s participatory weaving wall Ngalawan (2022) overlay on her son Shay Tobin’s work Burramatta Badu (2021), and costume and body performance by Filipinx artist Red Rey in collaboration with Manila-based artist Leeroy New.
