Loosen up, get messy, and go big!
This vibrant one-day workshop is a variation on my expressive drawing series, but with a twist. Here, you’ll focus on completing one large-scale artwork, working directly from a bold and dynamic still life setup.
Using a wide range of expressive drawing and mixed media techniques, including layering, mark-making, drawing with paint, and more, you’ll create a richly textured and energetic piece that reflects both your personal voice and the subject in front of you.
We’ll use colour, composition, gesture, and layering, giving you the freedom to take risks, experiment with materials, and challenge the idea of “getting it right.” While some may finish a second work, the goal is to complete one powerful, expressive piece.
You’ll have the option to work on high-quality paper or canvas (if you choose canvas, just bring some extra paint and a bit of gesso).
This is a perfect workshop for the warmer months, a chance to stretch out, take up space, and play big with your ideas.
You’ll leave with:
A large, finished artwork full of character and energy
Fresh, expressive drawing and painting techniques
Focus on dynamic composition
Confidence working with unexpected materials
A renewed sense of freedom and play in your art practice
All levels welcome, from complete beginners to seasoned artists looking to loosen up and recharge creatively. All you need is a willingness to be bold, brave, and expressive.

Testimonial
I have attended many of Jody’s workshops. I can’t get enough! She is full of inspiration, generous with her knowledge and expertise, and helps you find artistic bones inside of yourself you didn’t know were there. If you want to enjoy creating art and want to find new and exciting ways to express yourself you really should go to one of Jody’s workshops.
