Daddy Charles is coming to Gadigal land and bringing their BDE…. Big Daddy Energy!

In collaboration with the show Mascs, and by popular demand, Daddy is bringing their masculine energy workshop to The Red Rattler for a queer masc movement class that deconstructs “masculinity”, gender, performance and power.

Daddy Charles has been tearing up stages across the globe for almost two decades, before settling down in so called Australia. They are a performer, once upon a time drag king, sex worker, queer liberation practitioner, dance teacher and former owner of two dance schools. They know how to command an audience, a stage, a room… a moment.

Big Daddy Energy is a movement class that deconstructs what it means to be masculine and feminine, then tears apart the binary until it becomes something we can play with and bend to our will. In this space we explore what it means to move with masculine energy without conforming to societal expectations or losing safety or self.

This workshop is perfect for performers who want to bring this energy to the stage, feel more comfortable and grounded in their movement, and tap into some of Daddy Charles’ signature spicy energy.

It is also for trans masc people, queer people, allies, cis people, gender diverse people and anyone who wants to begin exploring and playing with gender through movement.

Daddy Charles (with the support of their Drag son Mercury) will guide you through the five steps of Charlie’s Midnight Method coaching:

1. Know Yourself

Explore your connection to your own sexuality, sensuality, gender, desire and internal monologue.

2. Ground Yourself

Learn how to hold yourself in your body, your environment and the space around you.

3. Connect Yourself

Recognise how you connect to others, how you are perceived, and how that shapes the way you move through the world.

4. Unleash Yourself

Let yourself access the parts of your expression that feel powerful, playful, seductive, bold or forbidden.

5. Celebrate Yourself

Revel in your power and learn what to do with it.

Bring water. Come in comfy clothes. Wear trousers and/or knee pads. Be ready to move, sweat, play and learn the first rule of healed masculinity before you even step over the threshold: Leave your ego at the door.

Discounted rates are available for sex workers, POC participants and Mob: use code BROCODE. This workshop is accessible and all movement can be adapted to your body’s needs.
