Understand the region, explore the trends and find the evidence you need.

What’s happening across Big Rivers and what could it mean for the region’s communities, businesses and organisations?

Join RDA NT and .id (Informed Decisions) for an informative and practical two-hour session exploring where the Big Rivers region is today, what’s changing and the tools available to help you better understand it.

We’ll start with a State of the Region snapshot, looking at key population, workforce, industry, economic and community trends and some of the shifts worth watching across Big Rivers.

Then we’ll show you how to put that information to work.

Through a practical introduction to RDA NT’s free Community Profile and Economic Profile tools, you’ll learn how to find and use local information to support:

  • grant and funding applications

  • business cases and project development

  • strategic and service planning

  • advocacy and investment proposals

  • understanding your community, workforce and local economy.

Whether you work in business, government, local government, an Aboriginal organisation, the not-for-profit sector or another organisation working across Big Rivers, the session is an opportunity to better understand the region and discover useful tools and evidence to support your work.

RDA NT will host the session in person in Katherine, with our .id (Informed Decisions) economist joining live online to present the regional insights and guide participants through the tools.

Want to follow along? Feel free to bring your laptop and explore the tools during the session. You’re also very welcome to simply come along, listen and learn more about what’s happening across Big Rivers and the resources available to support your work.

Presenter Information

John Kim is a Senior Consultant and economist at .id (informed decisions). He helps councils, regional bodies and government agencies understand what's driving their local economies and how to use evidence to plan, invest and advocate. John brings extensive experience from the public sector and research institutes and specialises in applied economics: quantitative and statistical analysis, economic impact assessment and custom economic modelling. His work in infrastructure resilience, environmental economics and macroeconomic analysis is particularly relevant to regions like Big Rivers, where distance, climate and major projects shape how local economies grow. John focuses on turning complex data into clear, practical insight that local organisations can use in grant applications, business cases and planning.
