And the Origins Film

We are thrilled to present our most ambitious project to date, in partnership with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

Conceived by evolutionary geneticist Jenny Graves, who co-wrote the libretto with poet Leigh Hay, ORIGINS of the Universe, of Life, of Species, of Humanity celebrates the beautiful science of our origins from the Big Bang to the emergence of our fragile humanity.

In this major new oratorio by Nicholas Buc, combined with compelling big screen images, Origins conjures themes of love for our planet and its fragile life forms, joy at the inventiveness of nature and alarm at the self-inflicted dangers faced by humanity.

Origins is presented by arrangement with Heidelberg Choral Society, who premiered the work at the Melbourne Recital Centre in 2023.

The Big Sing provides an annual platform for choristers to join a massed choir to sing the best loved classical choral works with a symphony orchestra.

Anyone who is able to learn the music, and can commit to the mandatory rehearsal and performance schedule, is invited to register for the Big Sing Chorus.

Registration

Your Registration Fee includes the mandatory rehearsals, the performance, access to the learning resources online and 30% off concert tickets for friends and family. Note that scores will be available for purchase separately in early 2026. You will receive the discount code for concert tickets in the confirmation email when you register.

Please note that you will need to nominate Sop 1, Sop 2, Alto 1, Alto 2, Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Bass 1 or Bass 2 as part of the booking process.

Due to the our inclusion in the ASO 2026 Season we are launching tickets sales and chorister registrations a full year prior to the performance.

All registered participants will receive updates to the rehearsal schedule, score purchase information, additional rehearsal opportunities and online rehearsal tracks as they come to hand.
