Biome Collective & Arcadia present: Big Telly Jam

A one-day collaborative workshop for artists and game designers to explore creative technology, digital art and immersive experiences. 

Curious about creative technology and playful media? Want to know more about virtual production? Got an idea you want to test, or want to see what happens when you put different creative minds in a room together? Big Telly Jam is a friendly, supportive space to explore, experiment, and learn more. This is a low-fi ideation day centred on creativity, collaboration, and paper prototyping. You will see the virtual production facilities in action, interact with playful artworks, then work through guided warm-ups and idea development. At the end of the day, you will pitch your idea for the chance to win a cash prize. 

No prior experience in virtual production, immersive media, or games is needed, we are just looking for people who are keen to connect, share ideas and explore new possibilities in the CoStar facilities. 

Limited paid participation places are available for those who need support.

Access 

The event is an 18 minute walk from Dundee Train Station and a 12 minute walk from Seagate Bus station. 

Taxis can drive right up to the door and there is parking available for bikes and cars 

Water’s Edge has been designed as an inclusive and accessible building, a place where everyone feels welcome. This includes lift access and accessible toilets on each floor and Disabled person badge holders may park halfway along Camperdown Street. 

Regular breaks including; Lunch, tea and coffee and water will be provided. Please let us know if you have any allergies prior to the event. 

Support Available

Biome is committed to ensuring your access needs are met and that you have a relaxed and enjoyable time during the Big Telly Jam. Lunch and refreshments will be provided on the day but we can also offer; 

• Funding for childcare up to up to £80

• Funding for support workers up to £80

• Funding for Travel up to £50 for a return journey if not based in Dundee.

• Taxi travel between train station and Waters Edge up to £15

• Participation fee of £100 for freelancers or people with no/low employment 

• Ticket fee of £10 waived for low/no income participants

Code of Conduct

This policy is a "living" document, and subject to refinement and expansion in the future. Last updated 2 April, 2026.

Everyone participating in the Big Telly Jam is required to agree to this Code of Conduct.

We welcome participants of any experience level.

We are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neurotype, physical appearance, body, age, race, ethnicity, nationality, language, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.

Participating in our workshop jam constitutes acknowledgment and acceptance to abide by this Code of Conduct.

Anyone who violates this Code of Conduct may be asked to leave the workshop jam.

If you experience disrespectful or harassing behaviour, notice that someone else is being disrespected or harassed, or have any other concerns, please speak to Susie, Laura, Claire, Tom, Malath or a member of the CoStar staff, so that one of us can help.

Open door participation

Participation is voluntary. Participants are free to stop taking part at any time. No explanation is required.

Inclusivity

Participants must be supportive and inclusive. They should think about the impact of their words, the privilege they hold, and the relative position of those they interact with. As a community we prioritise marginalised people’s safety above privileged people’s comfort and will make all reasonable efforts to be inclusive.
