BIG THICK ENERGY: Fat liberation panel discussion

Event description

We're bringing the f word to Big Thick Energy presented by Pride Inner West. Yes, we're talking about the word FAT.

We can't have a body positive festival without talking about the elephant in the room. Join our panel of AMAZING guests on Sunday 19 February from 4pm as they talk about fat liberation and their experiences living in a fat body. Oh, and how we're going to destroy fatphobia once and for all.

Here's who you can expect on the line-up:

🍑 Tia Rose - Your host asking the JUICY questions. A dancer, model and fat activist who loves deep conversations and challenging the status quo.

🍑 April Helene-Horton (aka TheBodzilla) - A body image activist who says a big f*ck you to diet culture, fatphobia and self-hate. She’s worked with brands like Bras N Things, Bumble, and was featured on SBS’ What Does Australia Really Think About (just to name a few).

🍑 Kelli Jean Drinkwater - A filmmaker, artist and activist recognised internationally for her creative practice and voice in radical body politics. She’s hosted performances around the world, and created award-winning documentaries that challenge society’s expectations of fat people.

🍑 Mark Mariano - An Australian-born Filipino writer, editor, speaker and panellist. Proudly queer and proudly fat, and now a self-proclaimed McDonald's influencer.

There'll be laughs, there'll be rage, there'll probably be some tears, maybe even some chocolate, but we hope you leave with some new knowledge and takeaways on how you can be part of this movement. Everyone is welcome to attend!
