This hands-on workshop will teach you the basic skills to maintain your bike and deal with simple issues related to tyres, brakes, and gears. Participants will learn to identify key bike components along with the ABCDEQ method for pre-ride maintenance.

The session will include practical demonstrations and hands-on activities, enabling attendees to perform maintenance checks, change a tyre, and adjust brakes and gears.

Demonstrations: Key maintenance tasks covered include puncture repair and the ABCDEQ check (Air, Brakes, Chain, Drop, Ends, Quick-release)
Hands-on practice: Participants will inspect their bike tyres, remove and replace inner tubes, and practice puncture repair techniques. They will learn to adjust brakes and gears.

What you'll learn:

By the end of the session, you'll know how to:

identify the main parts of your bike
perform a series of pre-ride bike maintenance checks (tyres, brakes, chain, handlebars, wheels etc.)
take a wheel off and repair a punctured tube
adjust your brakes and gears.

What to bring

your own bike to work on

a dropsheet (or old sheet, blanket, towel etc.) for working on your bike indoors
a bike toolkit, if you have one (optional)
any parts or accessories you'd like help working on.

It's also recommended you wear old clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.

Who is it for?

This session is for anyone wanting to learn basic bike maintenance to keep their bike in good condition and ready to ride.

Children over 12 are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
