BIMF! Local Sound Journey
Event description
Performances by talented local musicians in the Pablo Blitzer Trio playing Pablo's original compositions, with Pablo on Piano, Emiliano Belzer on Electric Bass and Jake Dominey on the Drum Kit. Then ultra creative Free Jazz will be played by the Offspring Gypsies, led by Zac Mukgrrngal with Ash Hall (trumpet) Chris Frater (saxophone) Emiliano Belzer (bass) and Steve Harris (drums).
Pablo Blitzer trio is the latest project by the Argentinian composer, pianist, saxophonist and clarinetist. In this format he attempts to explore a more abstract approach to his compositions to focus on imagery and storytelling. The music reflects his vast range of experiences and diverse explorations incorporating jazz, classical and folkloric music from different parts of the world.
Offspring Gypsies consists of five musicians whose collective musical experience reflects a great wealth of experience each player brings to the improvised explorations of the band. Together they create interesting, and interestingly challenging sounds, the source of which, if the stars align, is ‘the moment’, ‘the now’. 'improvisation as a practice, not a product'.
