Event description

Here's what we're talking about this month:

Ever wondered how to get your message out with your writing?

Join us for an engaging and inspiring evening as we explore the journey of becoming an author and expressing yourself in words for business and pleasure. Miranda Murray will tell us about the pain, the trials & tribulations, the vision and insights when writing a book. (and of course the rewards that follow)

What to Expect

Exclusive Insights: Hear from author Miranda Murray about the ideas, challenges, and rewards of the writing process. Miranda will give you some ideas and inspiration to write, for yourself and for others. This won’t be about writing a book, it will be how to dig deep and express yourself in words for business or pleasure.

Networking Opportunities: Connect with like-minded professionals and business leaders who are eager to share experiences and offer support. We always have people from a wide variety of industries and experiences. It’s a great way to meet new contacts and learn what others are doing to build their business.

Socialise and Relax: The best thing about BIO is the opportunity to relax and socialise in a welcoming environment. There’s always time for a drink afterwards at The Lord Alfred bar downstairs.

Community Building: Expand your network and form valuable relationships that can help you thrive in your business.

There'll be time for socialising over drinks and nibbles, then BIO Australia Queensland Coordinator Osman Bahemia and co-host Miriam Wood will kick things off with some intros before we get underway.

Miranda Murray
Miranda Murray

Passionate about understanding what drives people and helping them to create more meaningful relationships and deeper connection in all areas of their lives, including the relationship they have with themselves, their families, their colleagues and their communities.

I co-founded Empathic Consulting with my business partner (and incredible husband), Daniel Murray. We provide practical skills, tools and frameworks to develop empathy as a capability. We challenge perceptions, inspire curiosity and up-skill people to help them change their world. We support not-for-profits who believe in a more compassionate and inclusive world and form partnerships with those who share our passion for empathy

Miriam Wood - BIO co-host, Men's Coach and Career Change specialist

'Empowering people at a crossroads, helping them rediscover purpose, through the decision-making process and thrive in the next chapter of their life.'

After 20 years working in the fitness industry, managing DJs and gyms then corporate coaching, Miriam realised her knack and passion for working with people, particularly men, during life's big changes. Leveraging her background in fitness and education, study and experience in coaching, she brings a straightforward, joyful approach to supporting clients to work, think, live and love at their best.

      Some helpful event details:

      🎒 What to bring
      Just yourself!

      👔 What to wear
      Business casual. You do you

      🌟 A little more...
From the people you meet to the nibbles you nibble, at BIO we’re big into the little details. We are fanatical about all the facets that come together to make a brilliant meet up, because if you feel at home - you’re more likely to be yourself.

      🤔 What does this mean?

      - Be yourself, you’re you - not your Company
      - Keep the chat interesting
      - We don’t use name tags, because, well… just ask!

We can't wait to see you there.

      A little more about BIO:

Here at BIO, we do networking a little differently.

You don't have to own your own business (but it’s cool if you do) or be an entrepreneur, you just need to be open to meeting new people, listening to their tales, connecting differently and sharing ideas.

We’re not leeches… so our members are not about sucking the business (or life) out of you. We work together to help our members solve problems, build their businesses, further their careers or develop themselves. We give people a platform to tell their story and make valuable connections.

We hold monthly events for our members, and if you would like to come along - meet new people and give us a whirl then come along and join us to see what all the fuss is about.

Talking’s great, but sometimes so is listening.

To make sure each BIO event is interesting, we introduce you to our host for the night. This person will take us on a journey throughout the meet-up and talk briefly on a trending subject that sparks interest. From wine-makers to corporate giants we’ve cherry picked topics that are relevant to all businesses - from retaining your talent to the ever looming robots and AI tech, there’s a little something for everyone.
