Biochar making session: Turning weeds into a valuable resource
Event description
Join us along with along with members of the DST Positive Impact Committee, as we 'get our hands dirty' to make a positive environmental impact.
Making biochar is a fun, easy and social activity to turn green waste into a useful product. As part of an ongoing project, a dedicated group has been turning a boxthorn into a valuable resource called biochar.
Making biochar on-site, prevents the material being transported and handled multiple times, and eliminates the spread of seeds. You'll, learn about the uses and benefits of biochar while making it. This is a hands on workshop, so please wear a protective long-sleeve shirt, long pants and sturdy shoes. Wear a hat for sun protection and bring a water bottle. If you have riggers gloves bring those along as well as a couple buckets, tubs or containers to take home some biochar for use in your garden.
