Inmersión en bioconstrucción y construcción de comunidad

Paisaje: Ladera montañosa boscosa con jardines en terrazas, sistemas de captación de agua de lluvia y proyectos regenerativos en procesado.

Resumen

En febrero de 2026, Permatours y el Centro de Retiro Kolaval te invitan a una inmersión de 11 días en bioconstrucción y construcción de comunidad en Los Altos de Chiapas, México. Los participantes co-crearán una vivienda de tierra utilizando materiales naturales de origen local, mientras viven, aprenden y comparten la vida diaria en territorio indígena con respeto y reciprocidad.

Esta experiencia combina la construcción natural práctica con ceremonias, prácticas de bienestar, creatividad y ritmos colectivos. Está diseñada para personas que sienten en el corazón la necesidad de regenerar la tierra, las relaciones y la vida interior a través de la práctica vivencial, el intercambio de conocimientos y la creación colaborativa.

La Construcción

Los participantes ayudarán a construir una nueva vivienda bioclimática utilizando materiales naturales de origen local, como madera, arcilla del lugar, arena, cal, pigmentos, juncia y piedra. La estructura ha sido diseñada por una arquitecta local siguiendo principios de la geometría sagrada y la proporción áurea.

El edificio, con nombre Cabaña de Luz, servirá como alojamiento en el Centro de Retiro Kolaval e incluirá una estufa de leña para calefacción y para cocinar ocasionalmente.

Facilitación

El taller de bioconstrucción estará dirigido por Scotty Guzman de Permatours, Luz Elena Morey de Kolaval y un constructor local experimentado y con amplio conocimiento en la construcción con arcilla de la región. Luz Elena cuenta con más de 40 años de experiencia trabajando con grupos y aplica un enfoque de diseño, paisajismo y arquitectura basado en el feng shui (https://innerwisdomuniverse.org/).

Scotty es constructor ecológico, educador en compostaje y organizador comunitario con un enfoque centrado en el bienestar. Es cofundador de Permatours (Permatours.org) y fundador de Birds Nest Builders (birdsnestbuilders.com/), una empresa de construcción y diseño ecológico. Scotty viaja por todo el mundo facilitando con entusiasmo talleres de permacultura que generan un impacto positivo, a la vez que enseña habilidades prácticas sobre diversos temas, como la bioconstrucción, la ciencia del suelo, el acroyoga y la recolección de alimentos silvestres.

Talleres, prácticas y vida comunitaria

El ritmo diario combinará entre 4 y 5 horas de construcción práctica con descanso, aprendizaje y actividades comunitarias. Además de la construcción, los participantes participarán en:

Encuentros de gratitud y círculos de construcción comunitaria
Sanación con sonido, viajes rítmicos, canto, danza y creación artística
Intercambio de historias y experiencias culturales con la población local y entre los participantes
Qigong y prácticas de bienestar
Enseñanzas de ancianos y creadores experimentados sobre bioconstrucción y enfoques holísticos para transformar nuestras vidas y comunidades
Enseñanza destacada: El Dr. Marcos Girón Hernández ofrecerá a la comunidad del taller Permatours y la comunidad cercana una p
resentación sobre el conocimiento astronómico y matemático del pueblo Maya Tseltal.
Excursiones opcionales a antiguos sitios sagrados, sauna, aguas termales o ríos (costo adicional, se requiere reserva previa).

Los proyectos en curso de Kolaval también formarán parte del entorno de aprendizaje: jardines en terrazas, diseño de sistemas de gestión del agua, sistemas de cultivo de alimentos, creación de senderos y las primeras ideas para un templo del sonido, un templo de la danza y futuras estructuras construidas con materiales naturales.

Comida y agua

Las comidas que se proporcionarán serán veganas, sin gluten y sin azúcar, y se tendrán en cuenta las necesidades dietéticas especiales que se comuniquen con antelación.
Los participantes traen sus propios alimentos especiales individuales, y suplementos.
El agua para beber y para bañarse se trae de San Cristóbal.
El agua para bañarse es limitada; hay duchas con cubetas y agua calentada con energía solar o leña.

Alojamiento

Habrá disponible zona de acampar y espacio limitado para dormir en el edificio comunitario. También contaremos con un baño seco ecológico y duchas al aire libre, con agua limitada para el aseo personal. Los participantes deberán traer sus propias tiendas de campaña y sacos de dormir. Hay opciones de alojamiento fuera del recinto con más comodidades disponibles con un coste adicional.

Entradas

Las entradas se ofrecen con precios escalonados, con un número limitado de entradas con descuento por trabajo voluntario y becas disponibles. Si desea asistir pero no puede pagar la entrada, contáctenos. Las personas indígenas locales no necesitan comprar entradas; por favor, contáctenos para coordinar su asistencia.

Diseñado para quienes tienen dificultades para cubrir sus necesidades básicas, haciendo posible su participación. Esta contribución cubre parte del coste de la comida y los gastos de organización del evento.

Entrada con Descuento por Trabajo Voluntario - $120US

Tierra, Cultura y Respeto

Kolaval se encuentra en territorio indígena. Se les pide a los participantes que:

Vistan con modestia, de acuerdo con las costumbres locales (se recomienda usar faldas o pantalones largos).
Eviten la desnudez o cualquier comportamiento que pueda ser irrespetuoso con las comunidades vecinas.
Se abstengan de compartir públicamente la ubicación exacta en internet.
Practiquen la reciprocidad y la humildad cultural.
No dejen rastro: llévense consigo todo lo que traigan.

Logística de Viaje

Aeropuerto más cercano: Tuxtla Gutiérrez (recomendamos hacer escala en Ciudad de México en lugar de Cancún)
Como medida de precaución, recomendamos reservar vuelos con tarifa reembolsable en el improbable caso de que no se alcance el número mínimo de participantes.
Desde Tuxtla → transporte compartido (minivan) a San Cristóbal de las Casas → camioneta o vehículo todoterreno a Kolaval
No hay Wi-Fi; la cobertura de telefonía móvil es intermitente, pero generalmente permite realizar llamadas.
La electricidad solar es limitada; se recomiendan cargadores solares para teléfonos.
A 3 km de la tienda más cercana.
Aproximadamente a 40 minutos de la gasolinera de San Cristóbal.

Overview

In February 2026, Permatours and Kolaval Retreat Center invite you to an 11-day bioconstruction and community-weaving immersion in the highlands of Chiapas, México. Participants will co-create an earthen dwelling using locally sourced natural materials while living, learning, and sharing daily life on Indigenous land with deep care and reciprocity.

This experience blends hands-on natural building with ceremony, wellness practices, creativity, and collective rhythms. It’s designed for people who feel called to regenerate land, relationships, and inner life through embodied practice, skill-sharing, and collaborative creation.

The Build

Participants will help construct a new bioconstructed dwelling using locally sourced natural materials, including wood, on-site clay, sand, lime, pigment, straw, and stone. The structure has been designed by a local architect using principles of sacred geometry and the golden ratio.

The building will serve as a sleeping residence at Kolaval Retreat Center and will include a wood stove for warmth and occasional cooking. Skills & learning may include:

Facilitation

The bioconstruction workshop will be guided by Scotty Guzman of Permatours, Luz Elena Morey of Kolaval, and a skilled local builder well-versed in building with the local clay. Luz Elena brings more than 40 years of experience working with groups and a feng-shui–informed approach to design, landscaping, and architecture (https://innerwisdomuniverse.org/).

Scotty is a natural builder, compost educator, and heart centered community organizer. He is a co-founder of Permatours (Permatours.org) and the founder of Birds Nest Builders (birdsnestbuilders.com/), a natural building and design business. Scotty travels around the world joyfully facilitating permaculture work parties that leave a positive impact while teaching practical skills on various topics such as natural building, soil science, acro yoga and foraging wild foods.

Workshops, Practices & Community Life

Daily rhythms will balance ~4–5 hours of hands-on building with rest, learning, and community practices. Alongside the build, participants will engage in:

Gratitude gatherings and community-building circles
Sound healing, rhythm journeys, singing, dance, and art-making
Story sharing and cultural exchange with local people and each other
Qigong and wellness practices
Teachings from elders and experienced creators on bioconstruction and embodied approaches to shaping our lives and communities
Featured teaching: Dr Marcos Girón Hernández will offer the Permatours workshop community a stunning presentation about the astronomical and mathematical knowledge of the Mayan Tsotzil people.
Optional field trips to ancient sacred sites, sauna, hot spring, or river sites (extra cost, must be arranged in advance).

Kolaval’s ongoing projects will also be part of the learning environment: terraced gardens, water-flow design, food-growing systems, path creation, and early visions for a sound temple, a dance temple, and future earth-based structures.

Food & Water

Meals provided will be vegan, gluten-free, and sugar-free, with space for additional dietary needs submitted in advance.
Participants are welcome to bring special foods and supplements.
Drinking and bathing water is brought in from San Cristóbal.
Bathing water is limited; bucket showers and solar/wood-heated water are available.

Accommodations

On-site camping and limited sleeping space in the community building will be available. We'll also have an off-grid compost toilet and outdoor bathing setup, with limited water available for bathing. Participants will need to bring their own tents and sleeping gear. Off-site accommodations with more amenities may be available at extra cost.

Tickets

Tickets are offered on a sliding scale basis, with limited work-trade and scholarship tickets available. Please reach out if you would like to attend but cannot afford a ticket. Local indigenous people do not need to purchase tickets, please reach out to coordinate.

SLIDING SCALE PRICING:

Abundance - $630

Ideal for those who can comfortably afford this ticket and typically have enough to spend on vacations. This amount not only covers the cost of the workshop but also helps Kolaval and Permatours continue hosting additional educational events.

Sustaining - $490

Suitable for those who can generally cover their basic needs without financial strain. This fee covers all workshop costs (minus building materials).

Accessible - $360

Designed for those who may struggle to meet their basic needs, making participation possible. This contribution covers some of the cost of food and event organizing costs.

Work-Trade Ticket - $120

Limited work-trade tickets are available in exchange for help with event setup and/or cleanup. A contribution to the cost of food is requested from these individuals.

Kolaval sits at high altitude, so cardiovascular readiness and personal wellness preparation are essential. A community-care approach will be held throughout the immersion:

Land, Culture & Respect

Kolaval is located on Indigenous land. Participants are asked to:

Dress modestly in alignment with local norms (skirts or long pants are best)
Avoid nudity or anything that may be disrespectful to neighboring communities
Refrain from publicly sharing the exact location online
Practice reciprocity and cultural humility
Leave no trace: bring out what you bring in
