Can you Solve the Biodiversity Puzzle | Brisbane March 2026
Description
🐾 Biodiversity Puzzle Workshop – From France to Australia 🌿
Born in France and now flourishing across the world, the Biodiversity Collage was created by La Fresque de la Biodiversité as a science-based, participatory way to make biodiversity understandable to everyone. Today, more than 80,000 people globally have taken part.
We are proud to deliver this workshop in Australia, in official partnership with La Fresque in France — thoughtfully adapted to reflect Australia’s extraordinary and unique biodiversity, from ancient Gondwanan rainforests to coral reefs and species found nowhere else on Earth.
🌏 A Global Movement, Grounded in Australian Ecosystems
While the methodology comes from France, this Australian edition integrates local ecological realities and examples — including systems such as the Great Barrier Reef and other iconic Australian landscapes and species.
The result? A workshop that connects global science with the specific biodiversity challenges and opportunities we face here in Australia.
📍 What is the Biodiversity Collage?
The Biodiversity Collage is a science-based, collaborative workshop that helps participants understand:
What biodiversity really is
Why it matters for wildlife, ecosystems, and people
What is driving its rapid decline
How our economies and everyday choices are deeply connected to the living world
Grounded in the latest findings from the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and peer-reviewed research, the workshop builds shared understanding through dialogue, systems thinking, and collective intelligence.
🙋 Who is this workshop for?
New to biodiversity?
This is one of the most powerful three hours you can spend building a clear, big-picture understanding.
Already engaged or working in the field?
Discover a proven facilitation methodology you can use to engage and empower others in your workplace or community.
Open to anyone aged 14 and over (a different format exists for younger audiences).
No prior knowledge required — just curiosity and openness.
⚙️ How does it work?
Using a collaborative card-based system, participants work together to:
Explore ecosystems and the species that depend on them
Identify the drivers of biodiversity loss and their cascading impacts
Reveal the links between nature, climate, economy, and society
Build a shared visual “collage” that makes complex systems visible
The session concludes with reflection, creativity, and a solutions-focused discussion — connecting global biodiversity science with local Australian action.
🗓️ Workshop Agenda
This event is the Puzzle format of the Biodiversity Collage — a dynamic, condensed two-hour version of the original three-hour workshop. It offers the same powerful systems-thinking experience, while being more accessible for public events, busy professionals, and first-time participants. You’ll still grasp the big picture of biodiversity loss and solutions — just in a more streamlined, high-energy format.
5 min — Welcome & introduction
15 min — Great Barrier Reef starter game
1h — Building the Biodiversity Collage
15 min — Creativity & emotions
25 min — Debrif and discussion on solutions and actions
This public session is delivered by People For Nature, in partnership with La Fresque de la Biodiversité in France — bringing global scientific insight into meaningful, local Australian conversations.
