Why the Sunshine Coast BioBlitz?
Sunshine Coast is a global biodiversity hotspot. At a time when these special places are shrinking and under pressure from population growth and habitat loss, we must record what we have in the natural world to ensure its protection into the future.
As David Attenborough said, “We cannot protect what we cannot see… and … we cannot protect what we don’t know we have.”The purpose of the BioBlitz is to record what we have and shed light on what we must protect by connecting citizen science activities with support and knowledge from experts on the natural world. The Sunshine Coast Bioblitz has never been done before on this scale. The data we collect and any discoveries we make will showcase (in great detail) why the Sunshine Coast has achieved Biosphere status with UNESCO and is known as an international site of excellence. Be there and be the first to witness any new species that are discovered.
There will be remaining opportunities to visit the exhibition from Wednesday to Friday 9am - 2pm from 18th - 30th of October.
Thanks to our prize sponsors Wildlife HQ, Hollow Log Homes and ECOllaboration.

The Sunshine Coast BioBlitz acknowledges the traditional owners and custodians of the lands on which we gather, the Kabi Kabi and Jinibara people. We acknowledge their continuing connection and care for country and pay our respects to them and their elders past, present and emerging.
