Biodiversity Positive Design: A Talk and Tour with Landscape Architects

This event pairs a public talk with an on-site tour at the award-winning First Creek Wetland.

Associate Professor Scott Hawken, lead author of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects' Biodiversity Positive Design Guide, opens by describing ways for braiding and bringing biodiversity into every stage of city-making, from streets to parks to buildings and open spaces.

Two award-winning landscape architects then reflect on designing with people and biodiversity: Daniel Hidvegi of Taylor Cullity Lethlean on the South Park Lands Wetland, a blue-infrastructure and flood-mitigation project carrying Kaurna cultural interpretation; and Warwick Keates of WAX Design on Yitpi Yartapuultiku, the living shoreline and native habitat surrounding the venue.

The event makes biodiversity-positive design tangible and shows that radical ecological change sits within reach of everyday practice.
