This Workshop Includes...

We’re thrilled to welcome Rachel Pomeroy, one of Aotearoa’s most experienced biodynamic educators. Rachel has travelled widely — including many years teaching in India — sharing her knowledge of biodynamics, stargazing, and planting calendars. She makes all the biodynamic preparations herself and brings a warm, grounded, highly practical teaching style.

Biodynamics is a holistic, land‑centred approach to growing that works with soil life, seasonal rhythms, and natural preparations to support healthy, resilient gardens. It’s practical, hands‑on, and deeply connected to the living landscape — and this workshop is a chance to experience it directly.

What we’ll be doing

  • We will create a cow pat pit and put down a cow manure mix. This mix will take a few months to mature and will become a compost concentrate that can be shared as a community resource for everyone’s garden.

  • We will build a free‑standing compost heap, adding the biodynamic preparations.

  • We will learn about these preparations — their qualities and effects.

  • To conclude, we will gather for reflections, questions, and answers while we stir the biodynamic Preparation 500, and then apply it across the land as a deed to the whenua.

We’ll also share lunch together and a cuppa around the fire, with plenty of space for kōrero, questions, and connection throughout the day. We will provide homemade bread, pesto and cheese, please also bring something to share if you can.
