This WA AI Hub course is for public safety, local government, civic technology, legal, policy, community and AI governance stakeholders. It responds to the new WA privacy environment under the PRIS Act and uses practical case material including biometric technology, PIAs and automated decision-making. Participants leave with a concrete governance artefact they can use in their organisation.
What you will do:
Biometric information and mass collection: Explain why facial images are sensitive personal information and how collection obligations arise.
Collective privacy and scope creep: Assess community-level harms, chilling effects and project expansion risks.
Data quality and false match risk: Identify false positive/negative risk and its impact on interventions.
Public trust and transparency response: Draft transparency, consultation and accountability actions.

Mr Josh Tedjasaputra is a WA AI Hub strategist, technologist, and educator who supports young people to explore AI through practical, hands-on learning while building digital skills, creativity, and critical thinking.
