Event description

Talk Overview

Brain-computer interface (BCI) is a communication pathway between the brain and an external device without the need for direct involvement from the spinal cord or muscles.

For individuals with severe physical disabilities, a BCI offers a way to interact with computers, assistive devices, and their environment through brain signals.

By providing real-time feedback and engaging individuals in tasks that require mental effort and concentration, BCI systems can promote neuroplastic changes in the brain, facilitating recovery and adaptation following injury or disease. This talk will provide an overview of BCIs, their types and applications, the current state of the art, and their potential in improving rehabilitation therapies and functional independence for people with serious personal injuries.
