Sat, 20 Sep, 8am - 11am AEST

Event description

This guided walk through forest terrain, will teach participants how to listen deeply and notice the avian songscape, which not only identifies which birds are present in the environment but also reveals much about seasonality and the ecological health of the habitat. Learning bird language involves far more than simply listening to assorted chirps, cheeps and squawks. It’s a “whole-of-nature” approach that builds our capacity and enjoyment for meaningful connection to the natural world and fosters a range of evidence-based physical and mental wellbeing benefits.

By the end of the walk participants will feel more confident to identify a range of birds from their calls, have an appreciation for the meaning-specific voices that each species uses, be able to track bird ground alarm and the presence of ground predators, and have a deeper understanding of bird ecology and habitat.

Suitable for ages 12+

All participants to meet Andrew at the entrance to 920 Darkwood Road, Darkwood.  We will travel together for an additional 3km from here onto private property to
start the walk.
