Leading up to the 126th Christmas Bird Count, SCCF and the Sanibel Captiva Audubon Society are holding bird walks around Sanibel and Fort Myers. Join us at Bunche Beach on Wednesday, Dec. 10, to learn about the shorebirds that call Florida home for the fall and winter. Shorebirds in non-breeding plumage can be challenging, but we have some tips and tricks to help tell them apart. Binoculars are recommended, and we also have a few spare pairs for those without their own!

Bunche Beach is a large mudflat, and we will be there at low tide. Your feet will get wet, so please dress accordingly. The bugs can be bad in the parking area and along the beach but typically are not as bad out on the flats.

Bunche Beach is located at 18201 John Morris Rd. Fort Myers, FL 33908. Parking is $2 an hour, or free if you have a Lee County parking sticker. More information about the park and how to pay can be found here: https://www.leegov.com/parks/beaches/bunche
