    Event description

Learn how to photograph the birds & wildlife on the shores of RI with visits to Beavertail State Park & Sachuest Point

Join Kris Simard and avid birder/wildlife photographer Jeff Levesque for this unique opportunity to photograph some of the many birds that come to visit the shores of Rhode Island. Beavertail State Park offers a great opportunity to capture some amazing bird photos as well as practice some landscape shots with a lighthouse and sweeping panoramic views. Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, which is one of the top spots in all of New England for bird viewing, provides the potential for us to see any number of the over 200 wintering species that inhabit this location! Some of the common birds that can be seen here include Harlequin Duck, Eiders, Red-Breasted Mergansers, Surf Scoters, Long-tailed Duck, Loons, Hawks, Harriers, and we may even get lucky enough to spot the famed Snowy Owl. White tailed deer and other mammals can be spotted here too. We will take you to the best locations for viewing and teach you the camera settings best used for photographing them, including how to do so without disturbing these beautiful creatures.
