Description

Join local birding expert John Gitsham for a guided birdwatching session at Tolderol Game Reserve, one of South Australia’s important wetland sites and part of the Coorong and Lakes Alexandrina and Albert Wetland Ramsar site.

With its open water, samphire, sedges and reedbeds, Tolderol provides habitat for an impressive variety of waterbirds and wetland species. September also marks the beginning of spring - and the start of the migratory shorebird season - making it a particularly exciting time to explore the reserve.

Tolderol has recorded more than 160 bird species, including numerous migratory shorebirds. Recent wetland restoration has significantly increased the area of managed foraging habitat, with the reserve now providing around 150 hectares of habitat for migratory and non-migratory shorebirds during much of the shorebird season.
