Birth, Life and Death According to Tibetan Medicine and the Dzogchen Teaching
Event description
An exploration of Tibetan Medicine and Dzogchen Teaching with teacher and translator Malcolm Smith, based on the book Birth, Life and Death by Professor Namkhai Norbu.
Birth, Life and Death meets two needs, often considered separate or mutually contradictory: on the one hand our natural tendency to seek health and well-being in everyday life and, on the other, our ever greater yearning for authentic and unconditioned spiritual knowledge that can give us the means to deal with the problems of birth, life and death in a profound though concrete way.
This workshop will be of interest to all persons who wish to have a deeper understanding of the relationship between health and spiritual practice.
Malcolm Smith graduated in 2009 from Shang Shung Institute’s School of Tibetan Medicine. He has been a student of the Great Perfection teachings since 1992. His main Dzogchen teachers are Chogyal Namkhai Norbu, Kunzang Dechen Lingpa, and H.H. Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche. He is a veteran of a traditional three-year solitary Tibetan Buddhist retreat, a published translator of Tibetan Buddhist texts, and was awarded the Āchārya degree by the Sakya Institute in 2004. His works include Buddhahood in This Life and The Self-Arisen Vidya Tantra and The Self-Liberated Vidya Tantra.
Participants will also have an opportunity to experience Yantra Yoga and Respira breathing, with qualified teacher, Mathew Long.
