Bach in the Dark ‘Lie Down’ concert – Music for Cello and Accordion

Rachel writes…. “After the success of the cello and bass concert in the beautiful space of the Marrickville Yoga Centre, Simon and Hasu are going to host another concert – hooray! This is a very relaxed venue – last time I called it a ‘pop-up’ concert, but I realised it’s more a ‘lie-down’ affair. There will be chairs; but also bolsters, blankets and lots of space on a beautiful wooden floor, which makes for a very different listening experience…”

Rachel is joined by her ‘musical brother’, the fabulous Anthony Schulz (and his accordion!) for a night full of beautiful music, laughter, music-making totally in the moment – and a re-release of Rachel and Anthony’s second recording ‘Mosaic’.

If you’ve never been to a concert of cello and accordion you’ll be treated to Bach, pieces inspired by Bach, a time of stillness by Bloch, a tango by Piazolla and some folk music that’ll get your toes tapping! There’s every sound imaginable, lots of smiling, flights of fancy with Anthony’s improvisations and music that will make your heart beat slower – something for everyone! The duo will also have remastered and have a limited release of their 2023 release ‘Mosaic’ for sale – so be prepared for a musical celebration!

The yoga studio will be open at 6.30pm, and ticketing is un-numbered. Space is limited, so you are encouraged to buy tickets beforehand (sales will close at 4pm on Sunday October 27). If there are any tickets left, they will be available at the door. There is a special price for members of Marrickville Yoga Centre.
