Bite by Bite: Supporting Biodiversity Through Everyday Food Choices - Brisbane - Citizen COP 2026
Description
Community Cooking for Resilience: Healthy, Plant-Based Meals
Join us at Jingsi Books & Café for a welcoming and interactive community cooking experience that brings together healthy eating, practical cooking skills and community resilience.
This unique green building can also be transformed into a disaster shelter when needed, providing a fitting setting to explore how communities can build resilience while learning, sharing and connecting.
During this three-hour workshop, qualified nutritionists and dietitians will lead a hands-on, plant-based cooking demonstration, sharing easy, nutritious recipes and practical tips for incorporating more plant-based foods into everyday meals.
There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get expert advice on healthy eating, meal planning and nutrition, as well as to develop practical cooking skills and connect with others through shared learning and informal networking.
Whether you’re new to plant-based cooking or simply looking for fresh ideas, everyone is welcome.
The venue is wheelchair accessible.
This is a public session by Griffith University and the Tzu Chi Foundation Brisbane and kidly hosted by the Jing Si Books and Cafe.

About Citizen COP Australia
Citizen COP Australia is a decentralised, people-powered movement running alongside the global COPs in 2026. Enabled by People For Nature, but intentionally independent and distributed, Citizen COP invites communities, organisations, schools, businesses, artists, and local groups across Australia to host their own events during the COP period. Rather than a single central event, Citizen COP is a nationwide network of conversations, workshops, and actions that bring global climate and nature discussions into local communities. It connects people to science, solutions, and each other, strengthening civic engagement and ensuring citizen voices contribute to Australia’s climate and nature conversations.
