Released from jail, Lang returns to his hometown in Northwest China on the eve of the Beijing Olympics. As part of a dog patrol tasked with clearing stray dogs before the Olympics, he bonds with a black stray. The two lonely souls embark on a new journey together as Lang navigates long-held grudges from a violent local crime boss. Black Dog is a visually resplendent, moody blend of Western, film noir, and deadpan comedy.
