    The inaugural Black Snapper International Film Festival is the first major international student film festival to be held in Australia. In partnership with Macquarie University’s Creative Documentary Research Centre (CDRC), the festival aims to showcase some of the best emerging screen storytellers from around the world.

    About the Event

    Organised by students, for students, the goal of this festival is to highlight and support the talents of up-
    and-coming filmmakers from diverse backgrounds. With over 1000 film entries from 85 countries, the
    festival aims to embrace a wide range of storytelling, from inspiring and thought-provoking to humorous
    and unconventional, celebrating the creativity of young storytellers on local, national, and global levels.

    ï‚· Networking opportunities for student media-makers and industry professionals
    ï‚· Exclusive workshops, Q&A sessions, and an award ceremony in collaboration with the State
    Library of NSW

    Please note: Some films featured at the festival may carry an MA15+ classification, which won’t be
    suitable for younger viewers. Attendees under 15 should be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

    Black Snapper International Film Festival acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which
