IMPORTANT:
Keep in mind that this event will contain certain elements which individuals may find triggering. Shibari provides a safe container for the exploration of taboo and pushing our boundaries, in an environment built on a foundation of consent and thorough communication.
However, each of us is at a very different point on this journey, and it is important to be aware of the potentially confronting content in these performed scenes. The scenes at our event will include rope bondage, suspension, consensual BDSM play, genuine experiences of pain, rope on the neck, mouth, crotch, and face, and may include face slapping and wax play. If you are struggling with the experience, feel free to step into the second room, speak with a staff member, or leave the space.
In addition to this, as the organisers of this event, we acknowledge the complex and political history of the use of rope for bondage on the human body. This practice has been used to harm and marginalise peoples, and it is crucial that this awareness is at the forefront of our exploration.
Collaborating with Black Spark Cultural Centre in this fundraiser enables the support of the myriad campaigns for solidarity and justice which are run out of this spectacular community space.
This event will be taking place on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. This land is stolen, and has been harshly occupied for over 200 years without consent. We acknowledge the ongoing battle for land justice on this continent, and pay our respects to Wurundjeri elders, ancestors, and emerging leaders.
