On Black Thoughts Matter: This book weaves together Prof. Chelsea Watego's thinking on race and representation over the last decade that spans sporting fields, iconic pop culture moments and Indigenous affairs more broadly. It is a confessional of the challenges and possibilities of texts that are typically classified as 'non-traditional' academic outputs, and offers new writing that serves as a guide and a gift for the Black thinker who is trying to find purpose in writing that is of service, not to the academy or the colony, but to Blackfullas. Providing critical context to some of the groundbreaking essays published across a range of digital platforms, 'Black thoughts matter' honours the Black thinkers that have shaped Watego's intellectual and political formation to date. It is a testament to the love, power and joy that is at the heart of Black thinking and writing in the fight against racial violence in so-called 'Australia'. Art by Anna Carlson @ayesee
