Event description

"Blah Blah Blah" is an Art Exhibition brought to you by three best friends & house mates.

With all three creatives living under the same roof, we are so excited to bring our home to you.

All 3 artists explore different mediums & concepts within their works.

About the Artists

Bessminda

Bessminda is a Northern Rivers (Bundjalung)  based visual artist incorporates the use of both acrylic and oil on canvas and wood. Her painting practice  Her Current body of work presents as an exploration of abstract movement, within water cycles. The artist invites her audience into layers of detailed shape; balancing both sharp lines and curved structures. The configuration of pattern reflects inspiration from Cubism and expressionism, with a contemporary twist. Bessminda is self taught artist, however spent 6 months studying acrylic painting and collage at the National Art School in Sydney last year.

Alexandra Rees

Alexandra is an abstract artist based in the Northern Rivers (Bundjalung) . She studied at the National Art School in Sydney, majoring in sculpture and performance.  With her current practice being visual art, she works with a bright colour palette, utilising multiple painting techniques to portray her emotional state through scale, texture and abstraction. Her testimonial approach helps the artist communicate a relatable state of self and reflects external situations. Alexandra is adaptable to how her art evolves, which is explored through impromptu movement. Having performance play a big role in her practice, it is translated through layering, texture and sweeping bold brush strokes. Her paintings are an expression of her full self and experience.

Alexandra is also front woman of the Royal Ratbags performing at the collaborative "Gimmy Album Launch" music event.

Gimmy

Upcoming female Northern rivers (Bundjalung) based artist Gimmy, is a self taught pop-art painter. Also known for her music, her visual art practice is a similar expression to her music process though in a different medium. She works with concepts that mirror symbolism from her child like inner dialogue, playing with primary pop-colour including poetic connotation throughout the works to evoke emotion. Gimmy’s visual art practice includes working mainly with acrylic, spray paint and oil pastel on canvas.
