Blessing of the Animals: Service & Vegan BBQ at Emanuel Synagogue

Join us for the highly anticipated follow-up to last year's inaugural Blessing of the Animals in the newly minted David Neil Constable AM Memorial Garden.

In a spectacular guest-star appearance, Rabbi Emeritus Jeffrey Kamins returns to host an afternoon celebrating the souls of our animals, the creatures of God, and the many ways they enrich our lives. This year, humans will enjoy a vegan BBQ, and our furry friends will have a smorgasbord of treats to choose from. A special afternoon for animal lovers of all ages, with more details and surprises to be announced closer to the day.

This event coincides with the reading of Parashat Noach over Shabbat, in which the world has become so corrupt that God wants to destroy it and start over with the righteous Noah, his family, and select animals. Thus begins the famous story of Noah's ark, a vessel for surviving God’s world-destroying flood. After the flood, the earth begins to repopulate through Noah's family and the pairs of animals brought aboard the ark. Learn more here.
