Event description

What is it?

The Blokes Walk does exactly what it says on the tin. We are blokes and we walk. In this case, a small group - limited to ten blokes meet at 7am at the Mt Ngungun car park every two months for a walk up to the summit, returning to the car park approx 90 minutes later. We then drive 6 minutes to the Glasshouse Mountains Lookout Cafe at 182 Glass House Woodford Rd, Glass House Mountains for a coffee/brekkie.

Why?

Many reasons:

  • Physical Fitness - it's a short but quite steep incline, scrambling over some small boulders and lots of steps. It's a good cardio workout. Your lungs, glutes, hammies, calves and even your mind will thank you for it!
  • Mental Health - Just being out in the fresh air, breathing in the micro-biome, together with a group of likeminded chaps is excellent for our mental health
  • Connection - for lots of men, especially after they finish playing sport, or have kids, they lose connection with other men. We lose mateship and comradery. Often we only connect with other men through our work, where social norms and professionalism may impede our free and open conversations* Connection to others is an important determinant in happiness

Why only 10 men?

We aim to keep the group small so as not to overwhelm the track, and to enable conversations and togetherness. Different men are welcome each time, but will need to book a FREE ticket.

What to bring

A water bottle (or 2), good walking shoes/trainers

Who runs this group?

Steve Williams the Founder of Mind Flow Grow

Are you trying to sell me something?

Nope, this is a free group, started by Steve for the reasons above.

Physical Fitness/Safety/Welfare

You need to be physically fit and take responsibility for your own safety and welfare on the walk. By ordering a ticket you are acknowledging that you are physically able to complete the walk.

Cancellations

We will endeavour to meet on time, every time. If there is bad weather which could make the walk dangerous we reserve the right to cancel even on the morning of the walk. However, we will always attempt to contact everyone the evening before the walk.

Any questions please shoot me an email steve@mindflowgrow.com

* Blokes banter is ace! But please note this is most definitely a non-sexist/racist/homophobic group
