Bloom: Nurturing Endometriosis Awareness
Event description
Join us on the 13th of October for Bloom: Nurturing Endometriosis Awareness, a free educational workshop dedicated to amplifying endometriosis awareness within our community. This event stems from our successful fundraising campaign during Endometriosis Awareness Month in March 2024, where we raised money to support these sessions.
Why attend?
Endometriosis is a complex and chronic condition characterised by the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus, leading to inflammation, pain, and sometimes infertility. Despite its prevalence—impacting an estimated 10% of the global population—endometriosis remains poorly understood, often taking between 7 and 10 years for an accurate diagnosis.
Our workshop aims to:
- Break the silence surrounding endometriosis.
- Provide a supportive space where knowledge blooms and voices are heard.
- Offer practical advice and resources to manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
What will we be doing?
- 2:00 PM - 2:10 PM: Introductions to the Bloom team & House keeping
- 2:10 PM - 3:10 PM: Educational Session by Nawal from Self Physio: Dive into an informative session led by Nawal, a pelvic floor physiotherapist, covering the essentials of endometriosis: its symptoms, treatment options, and management strategies.
- 3:10 PM - 3:25 PM: Tea Break: Enjoy a relaxing tea break.
- 3:25 PM - 3:55 PM: Mental Well-being Session by Julia: Hear from Mental Health Worker, Julia, who will provide valuable insights on maintaining mental well-being during pain flare-ups and while living with a chronic illness.
- 3:55 PM - 4:10 PM: Mindfulness Exercises: Be lead through a series of relaxation poses and exercises to utilise at home.
- 4:10 PM - 4:30 PM: Hear from Ally about reflecting on the information learnt and applying it moving forward, and engage in an interactive Q&A session where you can ask questions and share experiences.
*Please ensure you arrive for a 2pm start.
