Embrace the Feminine Gaze

Join us as we celebrate ‘the female gaze’, a way of seeing and being that doesn’t conform to societal norms. Feminine Gaze invites women to view themselves and each other with compassion, desire, and authenticity, free from the external pressures that have long dictated how we should look, feel, and love. It’s about reclaiming our power and stepping into a space where self-love and attraction are rooted in the celebration of diversity, not comparison.

Blooming Nights Newcastle is a welcoming space for bi+, lesbian, queer and questioning women in their 30s and 40s who are curious about their evolving sexuality and identity. Founded in 2023 by three best friends who, after too many cocktails, wished they could offer others the support they didn’t have when stepping into their truth and sexuality, BNN events bring the essential element of friendship to the coming out and coming home journey.

This empowering evening will feature a burlesque performance by Seraphina, a celebration of confidence, sensuality, and the beauty of all women’s bodies. Following the performance, we’ll dive into a discussion about body positivity and how embracing the female gaze allows us to connect with our bodies and desires on our own terms. When we see ourselves through the lens of the female gaze, we can break free from the insecurities shaped by past experiences and learn to embrace our sexuality with openness and joy.

We’re also honoured to have a copy of Ellie Sedgwick’s book, Flip Through My Flaps, which challenges us to see the full diversity and beauty of women’s bodies, helping to spark honest, open conversations about reclaiming our power and embracing who we are. As Sedwick writes, “It’s time we saw ourselves through our own eyes, without the weight of judgment.”

Tickets are $45, or bring a friend for just $80. This includes the show, a cocktail/mocktail on arrival and nibbles to enjoy as well as our regular discussion and time to mingle and meet. Doors open at 6:15 PM, and the event begins at 7:00 PM sharp.

What should I wear?
The dress code is cocktail and what feels empowering, sexy and playful - but don't let that stop you from dressing however you feel comfortable! This is your evening, we want you to be as relaxed as possible.

Who exactly is this for?

This space is created for women in their 30-40's at the start of their journey exploring their sexuality or interest in the world of women, or those willing to support newcomers to the space. You don't need to identify as bisexual or gay to attend, if you're curious, you're welcome! You're also welcome to attend if you aren't in this age bracket, just know this will be the general age group.

Is this a play/hookup party?

No, this event is a cocktail meet-and-mingle-style event with a panel discussion. What you do after the event with your new connections is up to you!

Do I have to be single?

Whether you're single, a WLW couple, partnered and flying solo, or anywhere in between, you're welcome to attend. There are no expectations to do anything other than enjoy a drink with some new friends! Consent is important, so we do encourage disclosure of your current relationship status if you do connect with someone.

Will there be an after-party?

We will kick on to enjoy a dance with our friends at Bernie's!
