To celebrate International Youth Day, join us for the second webinar in OceanEarth Foundation’s Blue Futures series, and discover how professionals from diverse backgrounds are using their skills to help solve some of the biggest challenges facing our ocean.

Protecting the ocean isn't just the work of marine scientists. It also depends on lawyers shaping environmental policy, finance professionals directing investment into sustainable industries, entrepreneurs building innovative solutions or new technologies, and business leaders driving change across the blue economy.

If you're passionate about creating a better future but don't see yourself pursuing a science career, this webinar is for you. Whatever you choose to study or wherever your career takes you, your skills can become part of the solution.

Join a panel of professionals who have built careers in law, finance, business, entrepreneurship and innovation, and have chosen to apply their expertise to protecting our ocean and the environment. They'll share their career journeys, what inspired them, the skills they use every day, and why some of the most important work for our ocean happens beyond the water's edge.

Panelists:

- Charlotte Connell - Director of Innovation and Investment, Greenhouse + Climate Insider's 20 Women Leading Climate Tech & Innovation 2024

- A/Professor Jim Smart - Environmental Economist, Griffith University and Blue Economy CRC

- Jo Schulman - CEO of Environmental Defenders Office (EDO)

Together, we’ll explore:

How professional careers in law, finance, business and innovation are helping solve ocean challenges
Why the blue economy needs more than science to create lasting change
The pathways that led our speakers into purpose-driven careers
The skills and experiences that matter most in a rapidly evolving blue economy
Practical advice for using your own profession to make a positive impact

The panel discussion will be followed by a live Q&A session, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions directly to the speakers. Questions can be submitted during the webinar or ahead of time through the registration process.

Whether you already know where you’re heading or are still figuring it out, Blue Futures is about helping young people discover meaningful pathways into protecting the future of our oceans.
