Event description

Creativity is contagious. And while writers need alone time, 2020 has been extreme.

Gather with a generative group of spirited scribblers in the Blue Mountains this Spring and rekindle your creativity.

A writing retreat is a chance to take a creative leap forward with an idea, work-in-progress or never-quite-finished writing project.

Workshops by award-winning writers

Three esteemed Australian writers will deliver workshops:

    •   Poet, teacher and consultant at Varuna, the National Writers’ House, Vanessa Kirkpatrick will launch the retreat with a workshop on Friday night.
    •   Novelist and University of Sydney Creative Writing professor Belinda Castles takes us for a writing-and-walking workshop on Saturday; and
    •   Poet, author of 13 books and celebrated writing teacher Mark Tredinnick OAM takes us on a deep dive into creativity on Sunday.

Extra activities – or more time to write

Each day there’ll be many hours free for writing. But you might also like to join:

    •  Morning yoga-and-writing workshops.
    • A one-on-one feedback session with one of our guest writers.
    • Private event at Gleebooks, Blackheath, where manager Victoria Jefferys will discuss book sales and publishing in Australia - and let us loose to browse and shop at a discount.
    • Lunch surrounded by the worlds’ largest private collection of teapots, with a related writing workshop.

Your retreat registration includes accommodation and meals for four nights and three days, workshops and excursions, writing-and-yoga sessions each morning and a salon-style get together each night to share our work.

Glenella Guest House is in the centre of Blackheath with its antique and clothing stores, cafes, pubs and easy access to bushwalking trails and the magnificent vistas at Govetts' Leap and Evans Lookout. Glenella is easy walking distance from Blackheath Station if you'd like to travel by train.
