Event description
Join us for a colourful history of the Ballaarat Mechanics’ Institute and its people.
Hear about the colourful history of the institute and its people, from J.B. Humffray (fresh from Eureka) to the grand Minerva space and its history as a cinema. Explore the Max Harris Photography and heritage book collections, and get special local tips on the best things to see, do, and taste in town.
Generally, tours of the BMI take 50 minutes to an hour.

- As our event spaces are bookable for hire we cannot guarantee access to all spaces but we will work with you to establish your preferences.
- These tours are conducted by trained volunteers. Bookings are preferred as our volunteers can be difficult to schedule at short notice.
