Event description

Join us for an engaging morning of insights and inspiration at our next Board & Donor Speaker Series event, featuring a dynamic panel of local leaders who serve on some of our region’s most impactful nonprofit boards. Together, they’ll share stories, strategies, and lessons learned about what it means to be an outstanding board member—beyond just showing up.

Whether you’re a current board member, a prospective one, or a dedicated donor interested in nonprofit leadership, this conversation will provide valuable guidance on how to lead with purpose, ask the right questions, support staff effectively, and create meaningful community impact through board service.

Our panel will be moderated by Victoria Petro and will feature panelists Katherine AguileraChristina Story, & Scott van Hartesvelt.

Light breakfast and coffee will be served. Space is limited—please RSVP to reserve your spot.

ABOUT OUR PANELISTS

Katherine Aguilera is a nonprofit executive leader, woman of color, and proud first-generation American—daughter of immigrants—dedicated to advancing equity, survivor services, and resilient communities since 2014. As Associate Director at Peace House, she strengthens programs in housing, advocacy, and organizational culture, while building cross-sector partnerships to expand impact. Katherine also serves on the Board of the Park City Community Foundation, where she sits on the Executive and Governance Committees, chairs the Community Fund Grants Steering Committee, and contributes to the Community Belonging Fund. Her dual perspective as a staff leader and board member fuels her commitment to inclusive leadership, effective governance, and creating pathways for belonging.

Christina Story was raised in Atlanta, Georgia and moved to Park City in 2008 right after finishing her bachelor’s degree at UNC.  She worked a number of seasonal jobs before finding her dream position as an exercise physiologist at Huntsman Cancer Hospital’s Wellness Center in 2015.  As a community member, she currently serves on several non-profit boards – Summit Land Conservancy, Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital Philanthropy board and the Utah Promise Alliance.  Christina is also co-president of her family foundation, the Syla Foundation.

Scott van Hartesvelt founded a hospitality digital marketing firm in 2002 and brings deep expertise in storytelling and audience engagement. He is the Director of Leadership Park City and a graduate of Class 29 and has long been active in strengthening the Park City community. He recently served as Service Chair for Sunrise Rotary, sits on the board of Hope Alliance, and is a member of the Park City Chamber Marketing Committee. A founding member of Let’s Talk, Class 29’s project, Scott lives in Summit County with his wife, Monica, and their daughter, Laila.
