This workshop is a great refresher for the more experienced and a useful induction for new board members. We’ll cover the following, as well as answering all your questions:

  • Fiduciary duties Reducing duplication and improve efficiency for clients, carers and staff
  • Governance versus management
  • Acts, Regulations, Constitutions and Policies
  • Codes of Conduct
  • Conflicts of interest
  • Risk management and insurance
  • Where to find the information and policies required to fulfil your role

Presented by:

Ian Woodruff - Trainer, Governance and Community Leadership, the Institute of Community Directors Australia (ICDA)

Ian has spent many years developing his expertise and experience in education and healthcare. He has served on the former Dietitians Registration Board, held a directorship with Dietitians Australia, and served as an allied health director at Melbourne's Alfred Hospital.

At the School of Management at RMIT, Ian held various roles from senior lecturer to program director. His next role was at Orygen, a global youth mental health research, policy and education organisation, where he led teams delivering national training programs in mental health. Before joining ICDA, he managed the professional development program at the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and led the accreditation of hospitals involved in specialist training.

At ICDA, Ian works developing new training materials and delivering programs, including the acclaimed Diploma of Governance.
